Survey Indicates SEC Approval of Ethereum ETF Would Boost American Investment
The latest survey conducted by Grayscale and The Harris Poll has revealed some interesting insights into the potential impact of a spot Ethereum (ETH) exchange-traded fund (ETF) approval by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). According to the survey, the approval of an Ethereum ETF could significantly boost American investment in the digital asset.
The survey indicates that nearly one in four potential voters would consider investing in Ethereum if an ETF-based product were to be approved. This approval could not only increase their interest in Ethereum but also in other cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin.
Grayscale’s findings align with analysts’ predictions about the potential success of Ethereum ETFs. Quinn Thompson, founder of Leker Capital, highlighted that the ETH ETF could serve as a proxy for traditional investors who lack exposure to blockchain and crypto assets beyond digital gold.
Market experts anticipate significant investment inflows once trading of ETH ETFs begins. Charles Yu, Vice President of Research at Galaxy Digital, estimated that ETH ETFs could attract up to $1 billion in monthly inflows within the first five months. Similarly, Bitwise CIO Matthew Hougan predicted $15 billion in inflows within the first 18 months.
Despite the potential for high success, 25% of Grayscale respondents stated that ETF approval would not impact their investment interest. The survey also revealed that a considerable portion of the population remains unfamiliar with spot Ethereum ETFs, with around 43% of US voters being unaware of them.
Moreover, the survey highlighted the increasing importance of crypto for American voters. A third of American potential voters have become more open to crypto since the beginning of this year, and 47% of them believe that crypto will eventually find its way into their investment portfolios.
Overall, the survey results suggest that the approval of an Ethereum ETF could have a significant impact on American investment in the digital asset and further advance the maturity and mainstream adoption of the crypto market.
