Title: Spot Ethereum ETFs Expected to Debut Around July 15, Analyst Predicts

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart and his team are forecasting the launch of spot Ethereum ETFs around July 15, as the application process nears completion. Seyffart shared this prediction on social media on July 3, although he expressed “low confidence” in the exact launch date.

The anticipation comes after Bitwise recently amended its spot Ethereum ETF application on July 3, introducing a six-month fee waiver for the first $500 million in assets. Seyffart believes these minor changes indicate that the ETFs could be ready within a few weeks, despite the SEC’s Division of Corporate Finance taking its time with approvals.

Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted that recent comments on the applications involved “literally nothing,” suggesting that the funds should have already started trading. He mentioned that these light comments allowed Bitwise to amend its application ahead of the July 8 deadline expected for all applicants, leading him to believe that a launch is still on track for this month.

Nate Geraci, president of ETF Store, speculates that applicants may submit another round of amendments to include fees before the funds can begin trading.

The SEC approved 19b-4 rule changes on May 23, allowing exchanges to list and trade the pending spot Ethereum ETFs. However, the SEC still needs to approve S-1 registration statements for asset managers to issue the funds, with no set deadline for this approval. Balchunas remains optimistic, stating that final approvals are guaranteed, although the timeline is up to the discretion of the SEC.

Previously, Balchunas predicted a launch of spot Ethereum ETFs before July 4 but extended the timeline in late June as the SEC requested applicants to amend their S-1 registration statements by July 8. Other applicants, such as Galaxy Digital in collaboration with Invesco, also anticipate the funds launching within weeks.
