Actress Parul Gulati Faces Backlash for Buying House in Goa and Turning it into Airbnb Rental
Actress and entrepreneur Parul Gulati is facing backlash after announcing her plans to turn her newly purchased villa in Goa into an Airbnb rental. The 29-year-old revealed her intentions during a podcast with finance influencer Sharan Hegde, where she discussed her real estate investments.
Gulati shared that she is in the process of paying off the final installment of ₹25 lakh to complete the construction of her 2BHK villa in Nerul, Goa. Once finished, the villa, complete with a pool, is expected to generate a rental yield of ₹40,000 per day. She plans to name it “Malkin’s House” and promote it on Instagram, the platform that helped her build a successful business worth ₹50 crore.
However, the news of Gulati’s Airbnb venture has sparked outrage among locals in Goa. Many residents expressed their discontent on social media, criticizing outsiders for buying property in the state solely for commercial purposes. Some commenters lamented the impact of increased tourism on Goa’s natural beauty, citing the destruction of forests and hills for construction.
Despite the backlash, Gulati remains determined to pursue her Airbnb rental business in Goa. The controversy surrounding her decision highlights the ongoing debate over sustainable tourism and the preservation of Goa’s environment and heritage.
