Indian Travellers Flock to Paris for 2024 Olympics, Airbnb Reports 30% Increase in Bookings

As the excitement builds for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Indian travellers are making their mark on the event by booking accommodations in and around the French capital. According to Airbnb, there has been a significant 30% increase in bookings made by Indian guests for the upcoming sporting extravaganza.

The online accommodation hosting platform revealed that Indian travellers are not just focusing on Paris but are also exploring other destinations in France that will host major Olympic events. Cities like Nice, Aubervilliers, Colombes, and Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine are also seeing a surge in bookings as they gear up to welcome athletes and spectators from around the world.

With more than 160 countries and regions already reserving accommodations through Airbnb for the Olympic Games, the platform is witnessing a global interest in the event. Bookings in the Paris region for the dates coinciding with the games have increased over five times compared to the same period last year, indicating a growing enthusiasm among travellers.

Asian countries are leading the growth in bookings, with India, China, Hong Kong, and Japan showing the highest increase in travellers. India alone has seen a 30% rise in bookings for stays in and around Paris during the Olympics, highlighting the country’s growing appetite for unique global experiences.

Amanpreet Bajaj, Airbnb’s General Manager for India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, commented on the trend, saying, “The surge in bookings for Paris reflects an exciting trend among Indian travellers, who are increasingly planning trips around iconic sporting events like the Olympics, showcasing their growing appetite for unique, global experiences.”

With Paris remaining the top-searched city on the platform and a nearly 40% increase in active listings in the region, Indian travellers are ensuring ample availability for their stay during the games. Beyond traditional tourist spots, they are also venturing into lesser-known cities like Saint-Denis and Bordeaux to catch their favorite sports in action.

As the countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympics begins, it seems that Indian travellers are all set to make their mark on the global sporting event, creating unforgettable memories and experiences along the way.
