Pi Network Celebrates Progress Towards Open Mainnet During Pi2Day Festivities
The Pi Core Crew’s Open Mainnet progress remains on track thanks to the incredible contributions and innovations from its community. Pi Network, a Web3 app ecosystem and developer platform with a community of tens of millions of people mining and using Pi cryptocurrency, has provided an update on its journey towards Open Network.
In December, Pi announced its plan to enter the Open Network phase of Mainnet in 2024 if certain conditions were met, including reaching 15 million KYC’ed Pi users (Pioneers), migrating 10 million people to the Mainnet, having 100 real Pi apps on Mainnet or Mainnet-ready, continued progress with the Core Team’s technical and product updates, and the absence of any unfavorable global external factors.
Currently, over 12 million Pioneers have completed identity verification through Pi’s native Know Your Customer (KYC) solution, Pi KYC, with 5.79 million people migrated to the Mainnet. Additionally, there are 70 real, distinct Pi apps either on Mainnet or ready for Mainnet, providing additional utility to the Pi ecosystem.
Dr. Chengdiao Fan, a Pi Founder and Head of Product, emphasized the importance of the global Pi community’s collective efforts in achieving Open Network in 2024. Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis, the other Founder and Head of Technology, highlighted the technical optimizations and updates that have paved the way for future initiatives like KYC grace periods, Mainnet Node development, and more.
Since PiDay last year, Pi has seen significant growth, reaching over 60 million engaged users globally. The platform has introduced new features like Fireside Forum, Staked DMs on the Pi Chat app, and the Pi Ad Network, showcasing the ecosystem’s commitment to innovation and utility.
Looking ahead to 2024, Pi Network anticipates further momentum as the Core Team focuses on enhancing utility and community engagement for all Pioneers worldwide. To learn more about Pi’s progress, visit their latest announcement.
